Traditional Holiday Desserts from Around the World

Salina isn’t the only place with fresh holiday desserts. Just for fun, let’s take a look at some of the most popular holiday dessert items from around the world. What are people ordering in France, Norway and South America this holiday season? Here’s an inside look!

France — Buche de Noel

A chocolatey log cake using hazelnut mousse and shaved chocolate decorations on top!

Chile — Pan de Pascua

Similar to a traditional fruitcake, the Christmas traditional cake is filled with honey, candied fruits and nuts.

Norway — Julekake

As a sweet dish, the Julekake is a traditional holiday cake commonly called “Christmas bread”  that uses cardamom, candied fruits, nuts, raisins, and is served warm with butter.

Germany — Lebkuchen

These are German gingerbread cookies fragrantly spiced and dipped in a variety of glazes. They can be dipped in chocolate glaze, lemon, or anything you choose.

Mexico — Buñuelos

Flattened, crispy round tortilla-like bread is covered in sugar and sometimes cinnamon and can be dipped in chocolate or caramel if you like.
